This Saturday, April 27, is the statewide opening day for trout fishing, but did you know you can fish for trout, bass and coho salmon year-round on Mayfield Lake? That’s just one of the reasons it’s a favorite for fishing.
Mayfield Lake is located about three miles west of Mossyrock, and is known for tiger musky fishing. Currently, the record for tiger muscky is 31 pounds, but there are even bigger ones still in the lake!
Tacoma Power stocks Mayfield Lake with rainbow trout, and there is an 8-inch minimum size when fishing them.
Other fish in Mayfield Lake include:
Largemouth bass – Look in the weed beds and the Tilton River arm. Use plastic worms, crank bait and spinner bait.
Smallmouth bass – Use plastic worms on jig heads and deep diving crank baits.
Rainbow trout – We’ve found Power Bait to be the best to catch these plentiful fish, and can be caught on the dock, boat or even from the shore.
Yellow perch – Look for them near the weed beds or in the Tilton River Arm. Use worms.
Tiger muskie – These infamous fish are catch, photo, release, and their large size and sharp teeth makes for an exciting tale to tell.
Our dock and shoreline make for the perfect spot for fishing, and the convenient private boat launch just steps away make it easy to launch your boat, if you have one.
